Economic Governance and Fiscal Policy

After having gone through a decade of financial and economic crises, the EU is once again facing demanding economic challenges. Externally, a profoundly changed geoeconomics context is arising. New challenges to EU states and institutions are emerging that that, taken together, are generating economic, energy and security concerns. Internally, old and new economic rules and practices – ranging from competition policy to monetary policy – are in need of revision or steady implementation. This Section welcomes full Panel proposals and Paper proposals on all aspects of European economic governance including, but not limited to fiscal, financial, and monetary governance within the EU as a whole or pertaining to Economic and Monetary Union. We are open to all theoretical and methodological orientations. We encourage submissions that bridge the study on European economic governance with other disciplinary traditions (comparative, European, and international political economy) and adjacent policy areas (social and legal issues or democracy and legitimacy issues). We also welcome proposals that examine case studies that are comparative as well as international political economy papers as well as those focusing on the system-level. Those submitting full Panel proposals are strongly encouraged to direct particular attention to submitting proposals that have a diverse composition (broadly defined).
