Abstract

This panel builds on the tradition of comparative political economy that examines how capitalist structures within the state impact the way economies perform. The concept of ‘growth models’ and ‘convergence’ are examined. Papers in this panel examine both the more theoretical dimensions of these debates as well as empirical case studies. The cases discussed include those countries already in the EU (for example Germany) as well as those that are aspiring to join the EU (for example Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans).
