Institutionalisation of Political Parties: Comparative Cases

About ECPR General Conference

The ECPR General Conference is Europe’s largest annual gathering of political scientists, bringing together thousands of scholars and practitioners to showcase the latest research and debate pressing issues in global politics. By providing an engaging platform for cross-disciplinary dialogue, feedback, and networking, the conference inspires actionable research insights and lasting scholarly connections.

The first ECPR General Conference took place in Canterbury, UK in 2001. Since then, it has been hosted every other year in a range of European cities, becoming an annual event in 2014.

The academic programme is organised into thematic Sections, each made up of three to eight Panels that bring together Papers on a shared research question. Presenting a Paper in one of these Panels therefore offers scholars the opportunity to showcase research to peers with common research interests and to benefit from lively discussion and debate.

In addition to the Sections and Panels, the General Conference also features roundtables, a plenary lecture, and a stimulating social programme, creating an enriching environment for academic exchange.
