The proposed panel looks at the integration of trade unions from Central East European countries into EU governance. The main focus is on interest representation at the EU level, but channels of influence at lower levels, like EU works councils and interregional trade union councils, are also taken into account. The main objective is to assess to what extent trade unions from the member states of the Eastern enlargement are integrated into EU governance structures and what their related strategies are. In order to better understand the actions of the trade unions the papers, first, give an overview of how the trade union representatives themselves assess their impact on EU decision-making processes and, second, discuss related Europeanization effects. The papers are all based on original research, including a combined number of more than 150 interviews.
