'Tailored' Agreement, Regulatory Approximation and 'More for More' Principle under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and its Comparison with the Previous Concept of Europe Agreements
Unlike the European Agreements, the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement brings specified procedures, methods and detailed instructions in the form of legal obligations as concerns the adoption of the Union legislation.
Even though the above outlined new concept may seem at first sight to be a little bit “paternalistic” in comparison with the previous Association Agreements, nevertheless it must be taken into consideration that to these the more extensive obligations in approximation of law correspond the substantially extended pattern of “assistance counter-obligations” on the Union side.
In other words, it can be concluded, that the generally declared principle “more for
more” will be fully applicable in the field of the legal approximation as well.
Recent events in Ukraine showed also that the mentioned contract instrument is considered to be a key indicator in geopolitical terms, as a powerful symbol of the future orientation of the Ukraine on common European values.
