Economic and Environmental Importance and Instruments to Support the Development of Organic Farming in the European Union and in the United States of America

Both farmers from the European Union and from the United States play a major role in the global food market. In connection with the development of genetic engineering and demographic forecasts for the coming years should be given to the importance of organic food sector. The purpose of my presentation is to show the value of the sector in relation to total production, the interest on the part of farmers' production of organic food certification system and the incentives provided by the U.S. authorities and EU institutions in order to develop this sector. An important issue will also show the main market for these products. The last problem that I want to disuse will be the question of the further development of the organic food sector in the context of agricultural systems and competitiveness in world markets.
