Abstract

Through the detailed quantitative research of the curricula vitae as well as the composition of the Greek political elites (Parliamentary members, Greek European parliamentary members and government members) the proposed paper seeks to respond to a number of issues. More specifically, it focuses on the evolution of political personnel recruitment channels in Greece (political parties and intra-party organs, political leadership, local administration, Media, State Organizations etc) as well as the role of political families in this recruitment process. Moreover, the proposed research examines the ability of the political elites to reproduce themselves during the research period (1989-2011), focusing at the same time on specific categories of political personnel (media representatives, political leadership consultants, members of political families etc). The research was conducted as part of an ongoing PhD thesis and includes the total population of political elites' members for the above mentioned period and categories (total of 1080 members).
