This session will take the form of a moderated discussion between leading experts in Russian and European politics. Following the recent signing of Association Agreements with Moldova, Georgia, and Ukraine, this panel will provide informed analysis of current political, social, and economic trends in terms of European integration within the EaP countries. However, focus will also be placed on the significant role of Russia and the various mechanisms of Russian influence in the region. In light of the current Ukraine crisis, the panel will consider to what extent the EU has ignored (legitimate?) Russian interests, and what should now be done to ensure stability within and across the EaP region.
