Abstract

It is striking to see how little research is available on the role of practitioners in higher education, even if it is now common among universities to establish the role of Professor of Practice. The number of non-tenure-track teachers that are employed because of their significant expertise in their non-academic domain is growing. This session will offer some preliminary reflections on the advantages and challenges of involving practitioners in the educational offering of an academic institution and it will draw some recommendations on the best way to do so.
