Internationalisation, student diversity and peer learning

The 5th European Conference on Teaching and Learning Politics, International Relations and European Studies (EuroTLC) seeks to stimulate the exchange of experience and views related to supporting the learning of international students and mixed groups of home and international students.

Jointly convened by our Standing Group on Teaching and Learning Politics and Comenius University in Bratislava and organised in association with the collaborative international Erasmus+ project IMPACT, the Conference will be held in Gondova 2, Bratislava from 16 – 17 June, and include an online workshop on 15 June.

Our convenors and the entire EuroTLC organising team are looking forward to enriching conversations!

About the Conference

Underpinned by the overarching theme of Internationalisation, student diversity and peer learning, the Conference will offer an interactive, inspiring setting to present and discuss your experience with peers.

  • Get inspired
  • Share best practices
  • Exchange ideas
  • Reflect and deliberate

The Conference programme is organised around seven key Sections.

The organisers welcome both teachers and students, including Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students. Programme coordinators and educational developers are assumed to benefit from attending the conference, too.

The conference targets students and academics from various social science disciplines, including, but not limited to, political science, sociology, area studies, psychology, communication studies, anthropology, ethics, culture, law, and economics.

The conference will be held in English.

The conference will use different formats to enhance participant knowledge of pedagogical methods and approaches and to facilitate discussion among the participants.

Aside from listening to presentations of Papers and discussing with peers, you will have an opportunity to explore new teaching and learning methods via demonstrations.

Poster sessions will offer space to discuss learning designs and outcomes of learning methods based on visualised presentations and dialogue with the authors of posters.

A garden party organised at the end of the conference will provide an inspiring environment for informal pedagogical conversations.

The conference programme will also include slots for free exchange and networking.

How to take part

The organisers invite the following contributions focusing on issues surrounding the learning and teaching of international students:

  • Paper presentations
  • Demonstrations
  • Poster presentations

You will be expected to submit your full Paper, a description of your Demonstration of a learning/teaching method, or a Poster by Friday 10 June.

The organisers particularly welcome submissions authored by students, including Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students or those co-authored by students and their pedagogues.

To make a proposal, you must have a My ECPR profile. If you don’t already have one, it takes just a few clicks to create.

You will be asked to indicate your preferred participation format (online on 15 June or in Bratislava from 16 – 17 June) upon submitting your proposal.

Review our full proposals guidelines here.

The proposal phase is now closed.

You will hear about the outcome of your proposal by early May.
