Abstract

This section invites panels and papers dealing with the relationship of law and politics and/or the role of courts in the EU, including in the aftermath of the Euro-crisis. Interdisciplinary perspectives, combining political science and legal approaches, are welcome. Contributions may analyze the active role of courts such as the CJEU or national courts in EU politics as well as other, political actors’ use of the EU legal multi-level system, e.g. through private litigation or Commission enforcement action. They may focus at the EU and/or domestic levels – studying processes of ‘integration through law’, e.g. through judicial lawmaking, or tracing ‘Europeanization through law’, i.e. the domestic impact of EU judicial politics. Qualitative and quantitative empirical contributions are equally welcome.
