After creating a dataset about parties and party system change, the author will examine the development of the dynamics of the party system in the Czech Republic with special attention paid to electoral success of newcomers, the voter profile of individual political parties (demand-side), relationships between the parties, and interparty volatility. The development of the party system in the Czech Republic will be discussed in the context of current theoretical debates on party system dynamics in general.
