The paper aims to provide data and analyses on the way coalition making process takes place in Israel since 2009 -- the second (2009-2021) and the third (2002-2024) Netanyahu Eras.
There were 8 parliamentary elections and 10 governments in power since 2009, including 2 caretaker governments. None of the coalition governments finished their full term of service which can be a signal of instability of Israeli coalition governance.
The studied period is characterized by the political dominance of the Likud party with Netanyahu as it leader. Scholars indicated that Netanyahu is a populist leader that use anti-elitist rhetoric, use exclusionary statements about migrant workers and Arab citizens of Israel. Netanyahu has also used populist rhetoric and measures against the media, the judiciary and other 'elite institutions' to help him avoid his trial. Scholars also found that during that time Israel experience democratic backsliding.
Within the context of populist leader and democratic backsliding I will analyze the way coalition making process takes place in Israel between the years 2009-2024.
