It has been demonstrated that local party systems tend to be less nationalized, i.e., resemble the parliamentary party system less, in smaller than in bigger municipalities. However, in Rokkan’s original formulation of the development of a local party systems’ resemblance of the parliamentary one, his focus was on the center/periphery and the urban/rural cleavage more than the distinction between municipalities of different sizes. In this paper as well size as urban/ruralness and peripheral location will be included in the same analysis pointing out which of the cleavages are the most important for variations in local party system nationalization. A dataset including all election in Danish municipalities 2005-2021 will be used.
