Abstract

This paper thoroughly examines the external aspect of the European Union's efforts to combat disinformation and post-truth politics. Its objective is to pinpoint and delineate the primary actors influencing the discourse, while also investigating how geopolitics has become a pivotal factor in shaping both the narrative and regulatory landscape. The study encompasses various stakeholders, including governmental bodies, policymakers, non-governmental entities, and multinational corporations. By doing so, the paper aims to present a nuanced understanding of the key actors and the dynamics of power at play. It provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by the European Union in addressing the escalating issue of disinformation, particularly in the context of a post-pandemic scenario marked by internal contradictions within the Union's response.
