Outcomes:
Planning the experiments based on the time and students
Practical tips for biological experiments for different age groups of students
Potential problems in experiments planning.
Description
In our presentation, we introduce the importance of students’ own experience, planning of their own experiments and expeditions as well as the hands-on way of teaching the students to design their own research. The talk will contain practical tips for working with interdisciplinary and international groups of students due to the shared tasks. The methods of planning a short local expedition, necessary equipment, timetables and planning the right methods for harvesting material will be demonstrated. The second part will focus on laboratory work and analyses, as well as designing the experiments with students. The last part will be focused on the evaluation of the results. Also, a different way for students to present and use obtained results will be discussed. During our presentation, a short demonstration of simple biological experiments will be shown, in which the auditorium can also participate.
