Transposition and Implementation of Audiovisual Media Services Directive in Spain

This paper provides a qualitative analysis of the role played by national institutional actors in relation to the transposition process of the revised Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) into Spanish audiovisual media legislation. The variation in the transposition process is explained in relation to the initiatives, actions and institutional responses that have emerged since the Directive’s date of entering into force on December 19, 2018 up to date. Data is extracted from multiple available sources. Preliminary findings show that domestic authorities in Spain have engaged to addressing the main provisions of the revised Audiovisual Directive.
