Abstract

This panel is organised around the new book by Richard Bellamy, ‘A Republican Europe of States. Cosmopolitanism, Intergovernmentalism and Democracy in the EU’ (CUP, 2019). The book discusses based on which norms state peoples ought to cooperate in the EU and how these norms can be fleshed out institutionally so that the EU can democratically reconnect to its citizens.
