The study examines the factors that affect satisfaction with democracy in a two round system. The analysis is based on panel data coming from a two-wave survey conducted before the first round and after the second round of the 2012 French legislative elections. We determine who becomes more or less satisfied with how democracy works in France after the outcome of the election is known. We look at the impact of winning or losing on changes in satisfaction. We compare the impact of winning/losing in the second round versus the first round and in the local constituency versus nationally. We discuss the implications regarding the meanings that voters attach to the first and second round in a two round system. We use a survey conducted by Harris for the Making Electoral Democracy Work project.
