Abstract

The paper investigates how political elites think about the economic crisis and how this influences the chances of democratic consolidation in the Visegrad countries. It spells out similarities and differences of attitudes of East- and West-European elites and specificities of the East-European national political elites. It compares how the crisis hit the four Visegrad countries and how the elites and leaders try to mitigate the social impacts of the crisis.
