Abstract

The concept of security has a rather narrow meaning in the so-called ex-Soviet space. Following a classic perspective, security had as its object the state, while the military threats were considered by far the most important ones. The aim of this paper is to investigate how the meaning of security has widened in the ex-Soviet space by looking at a very narrow policy, the Eastern Partnership and how its six member states are able to respond to the threats posed to the civilian security. By using this concept we are able to better understand the changes that took place in these societies and how the meaning of security has evolved. In order to gather the data used in this article has been used a qualitative methodology and were conducted study visits and research interviews in all the six member states.
