Since 1994 the Department of Political Science at the University of Salamanca is developing a project on parliamentary elites in Latin America. The accumulated experience of 20 years allows us to analyse the study of the elites from a methodological point of view. This article will focus on two issues. On the one hand, we will address the developments and changes of the questionnaire and the causes that have produced these changes. On the other hand, it will address the problems that have arisen around the fieldwork in the last years and also the difficulties on the application of the survey.
