This paper aim to analyses Japan's response to regional environmental governance in East Asia. In examining Japan's response, this paper focuses on domestic and international factors and norms that affect this case.
First, this paper examines structure of regional environmental governance in East Asia. In analyzing this point, it compares with regional environmental governance in Europe, and demonstrates voluntary nature of regional environmental governance structure in East Asia.
Second, this paper considers Japan's response to regional environmental governance in East Asia. Especially it examines issues such as climate change, air pollution, and energy. In addition, it analyses changes after Fukushima disaster in 2011.
Third, this study examines Japan's response in terms of an analytical framework. It point out the impacts of domestic and international factors and norms.
Finally, this paper considers pathway for achieving an environmental sustainability and roles of Japan in this case.
