In Germany, finding gender integrated in curricula for bachelor, master, and teachers’ training (Lehramt) students so far remains an exception, despite the creation of several interdisciplinary gender studies programmes. Thus, the situation in Germany is far away from a gender mainstreaming. Teaching gender in political science is until now an individual decision by (often) female scholars who themselves take an interest in gender studies. Even though scholars in gender studies are organized in a working group of the DVPW, research rather than teaching issues dominate the agenda. This neglect of teaching should be tackled systematically to make gender studies sustainable.
