Diverse Students with Diverse Strategies in their Political Orientation: A Study of First-Time Voters' Different Approaches to Recent Elections – With Implications for Teaching
In multi-party systems political orientation is often challenging to the citizens, particularly among the first time voters and even more so for immigrant students. Voters often combine strategies like strategic rationalism, simplifications, heuristics as well as pure guesses in search for party choice. In recent elections computer assisted choice is being offered by many, particularly media. This paper explores different strategies among a selection of students and discusses implications for citizenship education.
