This manuscript examines the variation in Asian's preference over redistribution. Unlike conventional studies that suggest that Asian values focus more on substantive social, cultural, and educational rights. In this manuscript, we argue that it would be a misunderstanding to link Asian traditional values with welfare systems. Despite its emphasis on love others and self-sacrifice for the society and the country, Confucianism neither encourages the supply for nor stimulates the demands on social welfare systems. We further test our hypotheses with Asian Barometer Survey, the result evidences our assertions.
