Abstract

The aim of the panel is to analyze whether and to what extent there still is a democratic deficit in the EU with regard to political and institutional representation. Taking into account different possible conceptions of political representation, current proposals of EU institutional reforms shall be assessed and new ones elaborated. The panel welcome papers that incorporate an analysis of the concept of representation applied to the design of the system of representation appropriate to the complex political reality of the EU
