Housework inequality is seen as a major source of gender inequality in West-European Welfare States. The paper in this panel discuss this problem from different perspectives and with focus on different regions in central, south and eastern Europe. They present insights about private or public solutions to reconcile work and child- or elderly care for both men and women. Moreover they present findings on reconciliation strategies to reconcile work, politics and private life.
