Abstract

Welfare states have to respond to growing new social risks of women in times of austerity and financial crisis. How has the recent period of austerity influenced political discourse and with what outcomes in terms of policy legacies for persons concerned with new social risks? How do political factors mediate responses of welfare states to new social risks in times of austerity and with what cosequences for gender equality? The paper in this panel give answer to these questions by investigating different regions in Europe.
