This panel presents a set of papers that explore the connections between women’s representation and corruption at a much deeper level than previous research has done. Specifically, the papers explore the conditions under which women’s representation leads to less political corruption and the reasons why this happens, and they provide empirical evidence of the linkages between women’s representation and reduced corruption levels. Research on gender and corruption has become increasingly popular in the last few years and these papers are likely to be at the forefront of future research in this area.
