Our main goal in this workshop is to discuss local responsiveness in the context of a changing environment. More specifically, we refer to the shift from local government to local governance. This shift is characterized by two relevant aspects: Firstly, the emergence of multiple levels of governance and multiple actors in the field which is characterized by interactive policy development. Secondly, the emancipation of citizens and the introduction of new public management which is characterized by policy execution of non-governmental organizations. We would like to clarify if and how these changes affect the measurement and quality of political responsiveness on the local level. Researchers studying local political representation who are interested in political responsiveness research are invited to submit a paper. We gladly accept interesting papers no matter whether they focus on a single issue or deal with several questions which have been raised in this short abstract. Send paper proposals to the panel chairs
