Abstract

The measurement of interest groups’ relative success, in terms of attaining their policy preferences, continues to be one of the more challenging frontiers faced by political scientists. Each of the four papers makes innovative methodological and substantive contributions to the advancement of this increasingly active field of analysis. In particular, the panel encompasses research on two phases of the influence production process: agenda-setting and legislative decision-making. More specifically, the papers conduct analysis of both national parliaments (Denmark, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom) and the European Union (Commission and Parliament) across policy areas. Taken together this dynamic multi-layered approach (time, venue and sector) is critical for the advancement of our understanding of interest group influence.
