Abstract

This panel explores the multifaceted intersections of gender and politics across diverse geopolitical and institutional contexts. Bringing together case studies from Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, the panel examines how gender shapes, and is shaped by, political discourse, policy-making, and institutional structures. Topics include the role of gender diversity in global leadership, the impact of public policy on gender equity in international trade, the dynamics of women’s empowerment amid democratic backsliding, and the strategic deployment of gendered narratives in electoral campaigns. By engaging with both empirical data and theoretical frameworks, this panel aims to deepen our understanding of the evolving role of gender in contemporary political life and to highlight the challenges and opportunities for achieving greater gender equity in governance.
