Abstract

This panel examines the intersections of religious freedom, human rights, gender policies, and political conservatism in Latin America. Papers analyze the mobilization of religious freedom discourse by transnational networks at the Organization of American States, the challenges of implementing Inter-American Court of Human Rights rulings, and the role of right-wing and far-right actors in shaping gender and reproductive policies. By exploring how religious, legal, and political frameworks interact, this panel provides a comprehensive view of the evolving contestations over rights and democracy in the region.
