Against a backdrop of democratic backsliding, social and political polarization, exclusion, and conflict, this panel engages with a range of theoretical and empirical perspectives on civic education. Exploring civic education practices, and policies, alongside policy recommendations and the viewpoints of diverse stakeholders, we ask: What is meaningful to learn? What is meaningful to teach and how? How is civic education addressing emerging challenges? What are the implications of and for educational innovation?
