The panel analyses the role of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the tumultous year of 2022. The Presidency came at a complicated time of a conflict at EU’s borders, accompanied by unprecedented energy and subsequent cost of living crisis. We ask how the Czech representatives fared under these conditions, what priorities it set for itself and how effective it was in tackling them. We are especially interested in three particular topics for the Presidency: i) achieving internal and external security of the EU, ii) achieving energy security in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and iii) tackling the rule of law issue vis-a-vis several EU members.
