Abstract

This panel focuses on the politicized conflicts around gender, sexuality and reproduction in contemporary world. The anti-gender mobilization in Europe include ultraconservative policy proposals, mass mobilizations which took place in several countries and organized campaigns against sexual and reproductive rights of women, LGBTQI rights, children’s rights, as well as anti-discriminatory education and policies. In some cases, e.g. in Poland and Hungary, these efforts resulted in the dismantling of emancipatory institutions and policies, effectively deepening the trend towards de-democratization and democratic backsliding. This panel will focus on anti-feminist, anti-gender mobilizations, right-wing populism and euroscepticism analyzing these trends through the lens of feminist theory.
