Luiss – Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli – is an independent university created out of a pre-existing Roman institution, Pro Deo, between 1974 and 1978.

Luiss offers an innovative educational approach across its four Departments: Economics and FinanceBusiness and ManagementLaw and Political Science. Its goal is not simply to convey knowledge but to instil flexibility in young people, giving them a sense of mastery over their future.

Luiss is committed to excellence in terms of considerable investment in education and research. Thanks to its affiliation with Confindustria, the Italian Industrialists' Confederation, the University has close ties to the country's industrial concerns, most of which operate internationally.

The Luiss Department of Political Science, which is promoting the ECPR-SGEU Conference, takes an interdisciplinary approach, both in the areas of education and research. The Department's methodology is scientifically rigorous while remaining strongly career-oriented, thanks to the contributions of nationally and internationally esteemed professors.  The post-graduate programmes include first-level and second-level master's degree programmes, PhD programmes, and schools such as the School of Government and the Massimo Baldini School of Journalism.

The Department has always been dedicated to sociological, historical, methodological, legal, economic, and philosophical research. It is also committed to research in political science and communication, which means it offers an ever more comprehensive understanding of the socio-political phenomena of our time.

  • 4 Departments – Political Science, Law, Economics and Finance, Business and Management
  • 4 Schools for graduate and professional studies – the Luiss Business School, the School of Government, the School of Law, and the School of European Political Economy

To book a Taxi, call 06.3570. It is uncommon to hail a cab in the street. Instead, you generally need to wait at a designated taxi rank or book it in advance. Taxi Apps are also available, such as Free Now, it Taxi, Wetaxi (and many others). These can sometimes be quicker and easier to use than the phone lines. It is strongly recommended to specify if you wish to pay by credit card, either while reserving the pick-up service or while getting into a taxi.

Please ensure you use a licensed taxi. These are painted white, have 'taxi' lights on the roof, and have Comune di Roma decals (with the taxi's license number) on the doors.
