Our Standing Group on Parliaments proudly presents its Summer School which connects students from Europe and beyond with leading scholars in the fields of legislatures, representation, and political parties. The event offers a platform to explore the latest advancements in the field, present ongoing research and receive career advice.
Organised in collaboration with Goethe-University Frankfurt and TU Darmstadt, the Summer School of our Standing Group on Parliaments serves as a dynamic learning hub for PhD students and early career scholars engaged in the study of national, regional and/or transnational parliaments. The event is designed to enhance your theoretical and analytical skills while providing an avenue for receiving constructive feedback on your work from esteemed academics and peers.
Throughout the two-week programme, you will attend lectures that delve into a wide spectrum of the most relevant topics within legislative studies, covering both substantive and methodological considerations.
By the conclusion of the Summer School, you will become familiar with the core challenges, key literature, and the most recent theoretical and methodological developments in legislative studies.
The Summer School also presents opportunities to connect with seasoned scholars and peers, offering valuable career advice, a platform to present your research, and thorough feedback to propel your dissertation forward.

The Summer School is designed for PhD students and junior scholars with research interests in the areas of legislative studies.
To apply, you must submit the following no later than 3 April 2024:
Partial or incomplete applications will not be processed. Late applications will not be accepted.
You will be informed about the outcome of your application by email in April 2024.
If your application is successful, you will be expected to circulate a draft paper two weeks before the start of the Summer School, which you will have the opportunity to present and receive feedback on. You will also be expected to read the assigned literature for each session. Given the intensive schedule, this should be done ahead of the first session.
A registration fee of €450 applies. It includes a welcome reception and dinner, tours of the historic campus of Goethe University and the State Parliament in Wiesbaden, all coffee breaks and lunches, and a farewell reception and dinner.
Please note that your registration is not confirmed until your application has been accepted and your payment received in full.
Please note that the registration fee does not include accommodation.
The local organisers have arranged several lodging options for participants. You will receive further information about booking these before registration. Participants are also welcome to explore alternative housing arrangements.
