2017 Summer School in Methods and Techniques, CEU, Budapest

Registration for our 2017 event has now ended, but you can now sign up for the 2018 Summer School from 21 March 2018

The ECPR’s 2017 Summer School in Methods and Techniques took place at Central European University, Budapest. Offering cutting-edge courses in the full span of qualitative and quantitative topics, the event provided young scholars with the methodological skills to kickstart their careers, while an exciting plenary programme provided encouraged all-important networking.

The Summer School's academic content is designed to complement its sister event, the ECPR Winter School in Methods and Techniques. Find out more about the ECPR Methods School.

10 short courses were confirmed as part of the course programme, and a new format short course was introduced, in the form of a Seasoned Scholar Workshop, aimed at experienced scholars who gained their PhD a few years ago.  Alongside the short courses, 37 main courses ran across the two-week period, an increase of 7 courses from SS16.

In addition to the academic programme, plenary activities took place in both weeks: including the two Welcome Addresses at the beginning of each week, featuring a keynote address by Bernard Grofman on ‘A Melody of Models and Methods’, introductions of the Instructors and the presentation of the Cora Maas and Dirk Berg-Schlosser Awards.  Throughout the week, participants were also able to attend Course Taster Sessions and Brown Bag Lunchtime Lectures.
