Reasons, Knowledge and Emotions in Political Theory

This Section proposes to discuss themes at the intersections between political theory, (social) epistemology and the philosophy of emotions. There are many unexplored ways in which these disciplines may contribute to a better understanding role of emotions and knowledge in deliberative processes, political mobilization, political judgement and decision-making, public debate and political communication. Debates on climate change policies, international terrorism, disclosure of state secrets, public health, algorithmic governance in public administration and electoral policies are just some examples of domains that recast the intricate relation(s) between politics and truth, practical and epistemic authority, and reasons and emotions.
