Abstract

This paper consists of a systematic and thorough exploration of the literature concerning the ‘intersectionality of hate’, a concept explaining the convergence of anti-feminist, racist, xenophobic, and homophobic stances within the American and European far-right. Indeed, despite historical privileges, many white men perceive themselves as victims of societal changes, a sentiment the far-right parties and movements capitalise on to reinforce white male supremacy or depict white men as existentially threatened by feminism, migration flows, and multiculturalism. Collecting papers from Scopus, Jstor, and Google Scholar and using the PRISMA Protocol, this study maps the declinations of these forms of exclusivism to develop a better understanding of the intersectionality of hate and identify recurring themes, gaps (theoretical, methodological, empirical, conceptual, temporal, spatial, or literal ones), and opportunities for future empirical research.
