Abstract

Geopolitical tensions, Covid-19, and extreme weather shocks have heightened risks to global value chains. Russia’s 2022 onslaught on Ukraine and Xi Jinping’s alignment with Putin were the most consequential shocks to the pre-existing structure of global value chains. Until now. This paper will examine the emerging global value chain landscape just as the latest shock arrives on stage: the second Trump administration.
