Abstract

This empirical study investigates the integration of geospatial and text information from platforms like Twitter and incident reporting channels such as 311 and Fix My Street to inform policymaking. Employing advanced analytics, including spatial analysis and machine learning, we explore how this combined approach enhances the understanding of citizens' needs and preferences, particularly within a geospatial context. The research, a collaborative effort conducted during a research stay at the Hong Kong University of Technology in Guangzhou from February to April, focuses on concrete instances of geographically informed policy interventions. By presenting empirical assessments, this paper sheds light on the practical implications of leveraging spatially enriched data to optimize public service delivery, offering valuable insights for policymakers and researchers alike. The exact nature of the project and the research question will be defined more precisely at the start of the research stay in February.
