Chris Henry’s talk entitled 'Escaping the initial conditions of political resistance with process philosophy' will argue that process philosophy should be adopted by political theorists interested in actually beneficial political resistance. Using the example of Badiou’s seminal 'Being and Event,' Henry will invoke Agrippan skepticism whilst arguing that resistance grounded upon dogma is doomed to repeat its initial conditions of its emergence. Instead, Williams’ process philosophy of signs can be adopted as a model by which theorists can address complex socio-political events whilst remaining sensitive to their own contingent knowledge.
