Throughout his prolific career, Jean Blondel stood out for his numerous contributions to comparative politics and the study of executive elites. Within this context, Professor Blondel wrote a volume in 2018 in which he addressed in depth the personalization of politics in Latin America and the characteristics of its presidents. This paper reflects on the author's contributions to understanding the personalization of Latin American politics, the leaderships developed in the region and the types of careers of those who reached the Executive.
