Abstract

In the period following the 2016 vote in Britain to leave the EU, considerable uncertainty faces UK residents as well as the businesses and non-profit organizations affected by government policies. In this study, we interview 100 British lobby groups and survey more than 1000 British citizens about the issues of governance that are most important to them. Brexit is by far the most salient topic facing both. We draw connections between citizens and lobby groups regarding the issues surrounding exiting the EU and the socioeconomic and other characteristics of groups and individuals impacted by the decision.
