Panel Does "Western" Democracy Still Mean "Liberal Democracy"?

Abstract

The practice (in the form of representation and consent at assemblies) and the theory (in the form of conciliarism) of representative government was first invented within the Catholic Church. Following the councils of Konstanz and Basle in the 15th century – it was eclipsed by papal absolutism.
