State, Civil Society and the Problem of Terrorism in Modern Russia

There are many reasons for the active actions of the terrorists in modern Russia. One of them is the nationalism. First: In the report the author analyses the reasons and the “national peculiarities” of the terrorism and ethno-nationalism in modern Russia. It appears that nationalism of “small-numbered” peoples’ or its “Great Russian” version in its various manifestations will depend on specific domestic and foreign political circumstances or the progress or stagnation in national economic and social development. Second: The report focuses on the analysis of contemporary process of development of national mentality among the citizens of the multinational Russian Federation as one of the trend of the struggle of the government and civil society against the terrorism in Russia. The author refers to the data of sociological research held by various Russian sociological and political centers.
