Democratic innovations in local government - as diverse as they are (participatory budgeting, mini-publics, or other deliberative experiments) - are currently under way in many countries. In this panel we want to focus on the relationship between these "new" forms of citizen participation in local politics and different aspects of local representative democracy (politics, policies, and polities). Theoretical and empirical papers are welcome.
